WHAT WE TEACH

English

English has a high priority on our timetable. All children are taught English for an hour every day and experience a wealth of reading and writing opportunities through which they develop their literacy skills.  Phonics is an important and enjoyable part of our English teaching and standards in reading are very high. Time is set aside after lunch each day specifically to teach reading. Teachers read aloud to their classes each week, with the aim of developing enjoyment of a wider range of texts.

'Phonics is taught in a really fun way so it is easy to remember.'

Eleanora

'I enjoy looking at different authors and learning their technique.'
