WELCOME
Dear Parents & Carers
I am very pleased that you have taken the time visit the Belleville Primary School website. Belleville is a large and extremely popular primary school. The school roll has increased to over six hundred and fifty and there is a significant waiting list. We pride ourselves on providing a warm and friendly environment where both children and parents feel they are welcomed and listened to. We are a highly organised school offering a carefully structured broad and balanced curriculum. Children achieve very well in all subjects. Standards of attainment at five, seven and eleven are significantly above both Wandsworth and National norms and children make very good progress. We closely monitor what is happening in each of our lessons and employ excellent teachers to further improve the quality of teaching and learning. 'The consistency of the teaching is a great strength' (Ofsted 2007).
We invest a great deal of time and energy ensuring children receive a rounded education. We believe school should be fun and that children should enjoy coming to school. We work hard to ensure all children feel safe and secure and that they have well planned, interesting, well resourced lessons taught by excellent teachers and support staff. To enhance our curriculum, we employ a number of specialist teachers, these include teachers of: art, music, drama, French, drumming, games, gym and netball. Standards of attainment in these subjects are very high, for example: the quality of art displayed around school; approximately one hundred children have individual instrument lessons after school; we are the current borough champions in gymnastics, athletics and football.
Belleville is an 'outstanding school' (Ofsted 2007), it has improved very significantly over recent years and we will continue to work diligently to make it even better. Belleville 'is characterised by a relentless drive for improvement' (Ofsted 2007).
If you want find out more about Belleville School we organise two open days each year in the Autumn term and, where appropriate, I can provide tours of the school at a later date.
