BELLEVILLE PTA
OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY
Welcome to Belleville and welcome to our Parent Teacher's Association (PTA). This is one of many ways parents can get more involved in our thriving school community.
Traditionally PTAs are set up by parents to raise money to improve the school environment for our children and Belleville School PTA is no exception. Over the years we have raised many thousands of pounds, which have been spent on improving equipment and facilities in the school.
Support the school
Money raised by the PTA helped fund the building of an art room and over the past two years we have helped ensure that every classroom has an interactive white board. Currently the money we raise is being divided into an Arts Fund and Sports Fund, activities identified by parents where we would like to see more resources provided.
Make friends
At Belleville we also believe that our PTA should have another function and that is to bring the children, staff and parents together socially. To this end we run a number of events starting with a picnic for the new children and parents before they even start in their Reception class, so that there are a few familiar faces on their first day at school.
Later on in the year we run a number of social events some like Quiz Night for the parents, others such as the Valentine Discos for the kids and some like the Summer Fair for the whole family. Most years we try something new: this year one parent has organised a Cinema Club and others have been sharing their culinary talents through cookery classes run at cost for other parents.
All these events are organised and run by volunteers. We have a team of about ten trustees at the heart of the operation who meet a couple of times a term in the evening. Some events are organised by trustees, others such as the Pampering Evening are organised by one or two parents who think it would be a nice thing to do.
Keep in touch
There is an Open Meeting each term when anyone can turn up to hear what is in the pipeline or suggest new ideas.
Once a month we send home a PTA Newsletter outlining what is going on and looking for offers of help. Each class has one or two parents acting as Class Reps who circulate PTA emails and look for people to help out at events as and when they are needed. You can check the noticeboards in both playgrounds and on Belleville Road for the latest information too. We also have a weekly email of classified ads within the school community the Belleville Buzz e-newsletter featuring short adverts and notices relevant to the school community should you wish to receive it.
After that you can decide how much or how little you want to get involved: maybe you can bake a cake, sell some raffle tickets or help plan the summer fair. It is up to you, we hope you will come along and enjoy some events and the PTA will make yours and your children's time at Belleville that little bit more fun.
