SUMMER FAIR SUCCESS
This year’s fair raised over £13,500 – a really fantastic result. An additional £500 was raised by and for the After School Club, the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign and the sale of Arts Week t-shirts. What an achievement! To raise this amount of money during difficult times is outstanding so thanks to all the teachers, the year 6 PA’s and school staff who helped on the day and everyone who came along and supported the fair - we really appreciate it!
We also had the first ever finale of Belleville’s Got Talent which kept audiences enthralled, with further entertainment from some of the school’s clubs. There was swirling and stamping from the flamenco dancers, sponsored by John Nicholas Antiques and organised by Abbey McAuliffe, elegance and poise from Miss Lucy and her ballet class and wonderful singing from the students of the Mandarin class of Marieke van Eijndhoven. And as ever we had our favourite stalls of hook-a-duck, lucky dip, bouncy castle, tattoos, face painting and the children’s and adult tombolas. We had amazing food again from South Asia, France and Italy and great home baking from the parents and children at the school.
We also saw the welcome return of the Caribbean stall and this year we had a new BBQ, with steak sandwiches and hotdogs. Paloma Belaunde supplied some new games of target golf and cork shooting, Jane Riordan gave us badge making and Mr Speller provided the return of the penalty shoot out. We were kept cool with the ‘Soak a Friend’ stall and the bar was well stocked to ensure no-one need go home thirsty.
Sandra, Patrizia and Alison would like to thank so many parents who pulled together and helped make the fair such a success. Preparations started many months ago, with Lorraine Martin and Anna Wechsberg and her team securing wonderful donations, alongside those from parents, to be used for prizes in the auction, raffle and on the tombola stalls. These stalls, run by Steve and Ann Kelly, Fiona Wilkins and the Governors who manned the stall on the day (auction), Annabel Howcroft (raffle) and
Annabel with Maud Gambier (adult tombola) raised £4,500 of the final total! Meanwhile, Jo Martin, Coco Weller and Asele Toigonbaevs managed the Estate Agent boards, Coralie Walker found us free advertising and kept the website updated, whilst Delana Durman organised a new programme and Ann Kelly printed the posters and programmes. Estelle, Sharon and Brenda in the office helped with the distribution of book bag flyers and raffle tickets, with Claudia Hughes. Finally, on Friday Baki and Neil Findlay set up the gazebos and the stage and Kirstie Howard organised the floats. On the day, we had Ginger Spice, Elvis, Agnetha, Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson donning costumes in the heat. Steve Bishop, Pete Durman, Nick Ward and a team of dads set up the gazebos, electrics and tables, and an army of helpers set up, decorated and ran the stalls. Lucy Van den Brul did a fantastic job on the PA system, Kirstie Howard, Amina Stellon, Oliver Eiss and Heiko Krakowitzer collected the money, Sarah Ward and Jo Martin kept the day running smoothly and many thanks again to the die-hards who stayed to clear up at the end of the day. And as usual we cannot thank Baki enough.
We would especially like to thank our sponsors Youngs, Rampton Baseley, Marsh & Parsons, John Thorogood, Cluttons and Garnier and all the local and national businesses who generously donated to the Fair.
