On Tuesday the 31st January, Year 6s were given first-hand experience of secondary school life. Richmond Park Academy had allowed a tour through their school in order to give Belleville pupils some understanding of what awaits the Year 6s next year.

On arriving, pupils were greeted by ex-Belleville students who are now in Year 7. It was reassuring to see familiar faces in this new environment. They were proud of their school and there was much to be proud of.

Later in the day Year 6 had the opportunity to go to the sports hall and experience the variety of sports played at Richmond Park Academy. The sports that were included were rowing, football, table tennis and trampolining. All the children played the range of fun activities. The students that were helping in the PE department were encouraging and taught the Year 6s something different also they gave some good tips about improving the sports being played. Overall it was a very good half hour it gave Year 6 a helping hand in co-operation skills.

After sports, which made everyone tired, there was an opportunity to go to the IT suite. Everyone had to make their own aquarium using a programme called Draw plus. They did this to give them a taste of secondary school life and their different facilities.

Overall this was an amazing experience and gave Year 6 the opportunity to know how it feels like to be in a secondary school. During the day the activities such as IT and Sports, helped all of the children develop skills for the future.
