On Wednesday, nineteen Children from years five and six were invited to Waterstones in Picadilly to celebrate World Book Day.

They swapped their World Book Day vouchers for books by Dan Freedman (author of the Jamie Johnson football books) and Chris Bradford (who writes the Young Samurai series). Both authors used films and readings to explain the ideas behind their stories, and Chris Bradford demonstrated the fascinating art of Samurai swordsmanship, used by the young hero of his books.

After answering questions from the audience, Chris and Dan signed their books for a keen queue of children.
Belleville’s pupils obviously impressed the friendly staff at Waterstones, who commented on our children’s “wonderful behaviour” throughout the day. Many congratulations to all nineteen year fives and sixes for being such good ambassadors for our school and thank you to Waterstones for inviting us!
