Admission
You are welcome to come and visit us. Tours of the school for prospective parents are usually in November of each year, but please contact us at anytime to discuss alternative arrangements.

Up to ninety children are admitted to reception each year and there are three classes in each year up to and including year four. The number of classes in each year group remains subject to annual review.

Priority for admission is given to:

Reception

  • Children with a brother or sister who will still be at Belleville in the September of the year of admission.
  • Children who live closest to the school.
Nursery
  • Children living in Wandsworth
  • Children living in another borough that has reciprocal arrangements with Wandsworth
In each category above further priority is given to children:
  • transferring from Social Services placements
  • with a sibling attending the school on the date of admission
  • living closest to the school (measured by the shortest walking route)

Nursery children are not guaranteed a place in Belleville Reception. In line with authority procedures, separate application must be made for Reception.

Moving on
Children transfer to many different secondary schools (both state and independent) at the end of Year 6, when they are aged 11. Parents start thinking seriously about transfer towards the end of Year 5. The headteacher meets each parent early in Year 6 to discuss individual pupil transfer to secondary school. Belleville pupils settle into secondary school very quickly.

The school and the PTA organises a secondary transfer meeting for parents of pupils in Years 4 and 5 to help inform parents of the possible choices.
